The Newmarket where looking to capitalize on they're good start to the season, after last weeks dominance, but came up against a stubborn Topjoes1. With neither team seizing a lead it came to the final black of the match to decide the outcome in Topjoes1 favour, to secure they're first points of the season with a 5-4 win. Halkirk came up against an under strength Y-not team and ran out 8-1 winners, with Gary oag sealing the points in the singles matches. The Comm missed a chance for a clean sweep of frames in they're match against Topjoes2, dropping only one frame in the doubles to register an 8-1 win. The Park won 7-2 against Popeyes to take the lead at the top of the table.
Thurso pool league got under way this week, with the Newmarket showing they're intent for this seasons title with a 9-0 demolistion of Popeyes. Although the score seemed to flatter them, theres no denying this will make the other teams sit up and take notice. Halkirk began the defence of they're title againts Topjoes1. And despite opening up a 2-0 lead, Topjoes1 took the game right to the wire, with Stevie Elder closing out the match for a 5-4 win. Last years runners up, the Park, opened up with a 7-2 win against The Comm.Y-not versus Topjoes2 ended in a 5-4 win for the home team, despite some passionate play from the league new boys. Despite winning the first frame Topjoes2 lost the next five frames, and the points!
